What is the difference between a picture file saved as a jpeg and one saved as a png?

  1. jpeg, you can edit it, and you can resave it over and over, but PNG cant do that.

  9. JPG files are degraded when they are compressed. PNG files are not.

  10. the picture saved as a jpeg compresses image data by reducing sections of images to blocks of pixels, so if you edit the photo the quality does not turn out so well. the picture saved as a png compresses photographic images without degrading image quality. PNG tends to be the biggest of the three filetypes
